For over two decades the group have been penning some of the most memorable rock tunes of all-time and next week they’ll be embarking on a 12-city U.S. Fall tour that will see them tackling tiny venues as a treat for fans.

These shows will serve as a warm-up to a huge year of touring for the band in 2012 and they’ll also likely be your only chance to see Billy Corgan & Co in a venue that doesn’t also host sports teams. The tour will kick off on October 5th at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, California, and wrap up on October 22nd at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Additionally the group will also be playing material from their upcoming album Oceania which is slated to come out in early 2012, Just to clear up any confusion if you’re not a hardcore fan, Oceania is actually “an album within an album” and is just one stage of their currently in-progress 44-song collection Teargarden By Kaleidyscope. (Their most recent single “Otawa” is part of this larger collection, too.) ---
In addition to all of the new tours and music in the works, this fall EMI Music will reissue the band’s iconic 1991- 2000 output as fully remastered deluxe versions, so if you’ve been meaning to pick up Smashing Pumpkins’ 1991 debut Gish or 1993 mainstream breakthrough Siamese Dream you’ll have no excuse now when they come out on November 15th.

Additionally EMI will reissue 1994’s Pisces Iscariot, 1995’s 9x platinum double-disc Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness, 1996’s five-disc boxed set The Aeroplane Flies High and 1998’s Adore later this year. Oh and finally the band’s 2000 albums Machina/The Machines Of God and Machina II: The Friends & Enemies Of Modern Music will be released as one collection in 2013 and a greatest-hits collection will also come out later that year.
In fact while you’re at it you may as well pick up 2007’s Zeitgest as well, but don’t take our word for it: Check out a live performance of that album’s opener “Doomsday Clock.”
